Fans of neo-soul singer D’Angelo hoping for a followup to the excellent and nearly 12-year-oldVoodoo are apparently in luck. In an interview with Pitchfork, longtime D’Angelo collaborator ?uestlove promised a new album that’s “97% done,” and, “at best…in the Smile/There’s a Riot Goin’ On/Miles Davis‘ On the Corner category.” Which is, you know, a pretty good category! For now, we’ve posted a new D’Angelo track — a cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” — that ?uestlovetweeted is actually 8 years old and not meant for the album. But new to us! And pretty ingenious. Check it out below.
